CAMP CENTRAL REBUILD

Camp Central Rebuild

ADDRESSING NEEDS & EXPANDING FUN

One of the things that makes Lost Timber such an amazing camp is its focus on relationships. We believe relationships are crucial in the spiritual development process. Real and lasting life-change happens within the context of relationships. Within those relationships campers are able to relate to and learn from other’s life experiences and process their own life situations. Within those relationships, we witness campers grow in their character and their faith.

At Lost Timber, many relationships are built and countless conversations are had in a space we call camp central. This space is quite literally in the center of our camp property and is often the nerve center of our programs. Virtually any time there is free-time or cabin time for campers, they are spread throughout camp central. This area is home to a campfire ring, picnic shelter, and a variety of games including basketball, volleyball, gaga-ball (ring ball), 9-square, carpetball and cornhole.

With so much usage and growing camp attendance, it's time to recreate this space so that it will continue to be a gathering spot where relationships and conversations take place. We would love to start construction in the spring but funding will determine when we are able to break ground.

NEED 1 - BASKETBALL COURT

Our current basketball court is showing it’s age with cracks and chips in the concrete while also being too small to provide enough space for our camp programs.

NEED 2 - YARD GAME SPACE

Camper Central is home to all of our yard games. GagaBall, 9-Square, Carpetball, and Cornhole are all camp favorites and as such, their constant use takes a toll on our landscape. These spaces are bare-dirt for the vast majority of the summer and they get very sloppy when it rains. This creates a challenge for us to keep our buildings clean from muddy shoes.

NEED 3 - VOLLEYBALL COURT & GRASS RESTORATION

Our current court uses a heavy-grain sand that compacts into a hard surface that leads to cuts, scrapes, and torn clothing. It's also about 16 inches out of level which makes it a challenge to build our ice rink on it in the winter.

The Plan

We are planning a complete overhaul Camp Central to address these issues and increase the amount of fun.

NEW BASKETBALL COURT

We will install a new, full-size basketball court with two hoops to accommodate more players and lighting for those late night games. The court will also be striped for three full-size pickleball courts which will add a new activity option for campers that we have never had before.

NEW YARD GAME SPACE

We plan to create a new yard game space that utilizes field turf. This will create a space that can be played on before, after, or even during a rain. While it will mainly be used for 9-Square, Carpetball, Gagaball, and Cornhole, it will be large enough and versatile enough to use for many activities.

NEW VOLLEYBALL COURT

Lastly, we will rebuild and upgrade our volleyball court. We will level it out, add drainage underneath and bring in new beach sand that will make playing much more enjoyable.

NEW GRASS

We will kill off all existing weeds and grass, level and smooth the ground, and then plant new, hearty grass that can withstand all the traffic.

Ministry Impact

Camp Central is what we call our yard-space right in the center of camp. It houses our basketball court, volleyball court, canteen, main fire ring, Gagaball, 9-square, Carpetball, etc. Camp Central is the most heavily used space at camp where campers can have fun, grow relationships, and be encouraged in their faith. We are thankful that camp is growing, but growing camps means it’s time to revamp and expand this feature to allow for even greater use and ministry.

Project Cost & Timing - $85,000

We are fundraising to cover the cost of this project. Our goal is to start the project in the spring of 2026 as soon as the ground thaws but we won't begin working on an area until we have enough money to finish that space. Would you consider giving a gift of $500, or $1,000, or more toward this project?
